KGS-HighK: A Fortran 90 program for simulation of hydraulic tests in highly permeable aquifers

چکیده
Slug and pumping tests (hydraulic tests) are frequently used by hydrogeologists to obtain in-situ estimates of the transmissive and storage properties of a formation (Streltsova, 1988; Kruseman and de Ridder, 1990; Butler, 1998). In aquifers of high hydraulic conductivity, hydraulic tests are affected by mechanisms that are not considered in the analysis of tests in less permeable media (Bredehoeft et al., 1966). Inertia-induced oscillations in hydraulic head are the most common manifestation of such mechanisms. Over the last three decades, a number of analytical solutions that incorporate these mechanisms have been developed for the analysis of hydraulic tests in highly permeable aquifers (see Butler and Zhan (2004) for a review of this previous work). These solutions, however, are restricted to a subset of the conditions commonly encountered in the field. Recently, a more general solution has been developed that builds on this previous work to remove many of the limitations imposed by these earlier approaches (Butler and Zhan, 2004). The purpose of this note is to present a Fortran 90

Estimation of Hydraulic Conductivity Using the Slug Test Method in a Shallow Aquifer in the Venetian Plain (NE, Italy)
DOI 10.4409/Am-045-12-0048 Abstract: The slug test offers a fast and inexpensive field method of obtaining localized hydraulic conductivity values. In this paper, we applied this procedure in a ‘fontanili’ zone located in the middle Venetian Plain (Villaverla, VI). In this site, 34 piezometers are present in a small area of 1.5 ha, which intercepts a shallow unconfined aquifer. The experimental...

Hydraulic tests in highly permeable aquifers
[1] A semianalytical solution is presented for a mathematical model describing the flow of groundwater in response to a slug or pumping test in a highly permeable, confined aquifer. This solution, which is appropriate for wells of any degree of penetration and incorporates inertial mechanisms at both the test and observation wells, can be used to gain new insights into hydraulic tests in highly...
متن کاملModeling slug tests in unconfined aquifers taking into account water table kinematics, wellbore skin and inertial effects
Two models for slug tests conducted in unconfined aquifers are developed by (a) extending the unconfined KGS solution to oscillatory responses, yielding a model referred to herein as the unified model, and (b) replacing the constant head condition with the linearized kinematic condition at the water table. The models can be used to analyze the full range of responses from highly oscillatory to ...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling and Simulation of Highly Preheated and Diluted Air Combustion Furnaces
This paper presents some of the results of the modeling and simulation of an industrial furnace under the conventional combustion as well as under the highly preheated and diluted air combustion (HPDAC) conditions. The results are obtained using a computer program written by authors in FORTRAN language. It was found that, the HPDAC offers a more uniform and relatively moderate gas temperature p...
